A Midsummer Night’s Dream (1935) - general release trailer. The first Shakespeare adaptation to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture. Such a great example of how this film was marketed using the star system to entice viewers to go and see a Shakespearean film adaptation. The studio system also meant people were cast in the film because they had a contract to Warner Bros. and not necessarily because they were right for the role - makes for some interesting casting choices. My favourite, James Cagney as Bottom.
