In the spirit of Australia day (which is today!), something from my neck of the woods. My wonderful friend Helen (a fellow Shakespearean) pointed this out to me: almost all the streets in the suburb of Coolbellup in Western Australia are named after characters from Shakespeare’s works.
Romeo and Juliet are forever separated by Capulet (Street) and Montague (Way).
Hermione (Way) is estranged from both Mamillius (Street and Park) and Perdita (Way and Reserve - I wonder if the park has a bear?), and Paulina (Way) and Antigonus (Street) divorced by death and Coolbellup Avenue.
Such intricate patterns from a town planner with a sense of humour and a knowledge of the Bard.
A decisive win for Australian urban planning! I’m shocked, however, that no one wanted
